Hi! My name is Carla the heart behind Soulful Grooming. Soulful Grooming was created from a simple idea: dogs deserve to feel safe, understood, and cared for during grooming, not rushed and overwhelmed.

I am a certified dog groomer based in Des Moines, Iowa and after going through grooming school along with hands-on training, I knew I wanted to build something different from a typical high-volume salon. I wanted a space that felt calmer, more personal and centered around each individual dog’s comfort.

That is where Soulful Grooming comes in.

This salon is built around one-on-one grooming, meaning your dog is never placed in a stressful group environment or left waiting in a kennel all day surrounded by noise and chaos. Every appointment is focused on your pup only- from start to finish. My goal is to slow everything down so grooming becomes a peaceful experience instead of something stressful.

I know that for many dogs, grooming can be overwhelming. New sounds, new smells and being handled by a stranger- it can all feel like a lot. That’s why patience is at the center of everything I do. I take the time to build trust with each dog, go at their pace, and create a space where they can relax and feel secure.

To me, grooming is not just about appearance, it’s about how a dog feels during the process.
